Specialized Trauma Treatment
Evidence-based approaches that help you process difficult experiences and find lasting relief.
Trauma doesn’t just live in your memories—it affects how you feel in your body, how you relate to others, and how you move through the world. I specialize in trauma-focused therapies including EMDR and Brainspotting, which are proven methods for processing traumatic experiences without requiring you to retell every detail repeatedly. These approaches work with your brain’s natural healing processes to reduce the emotional intensity of traumatic memories, helping you move from feeling stuck and overwhelmed to experiencing genuine relief and resilience. Whether your trauma stems from childhood experiences, adult events, cultural displacement, or ongoing stress, you deserve treatment that actually works.
Types of Therapy Offered
I provide evidence-based, trauma-informed individual therapy using approaches selected collaboratively based on your needs, goals, and readiness. The modalities below may be used individually or integrated as appropriate.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)
EMDR is an EMDRIA-approved, evidence-based trauma therapy that uses bilateral stimulation to help the brain reprocess distressing memories. EMDR is widely used to support recovery from PTSD, complex trauma, anxiety, and adverse life experiences.
Rather than focusing on detailed retelling, EMDR works with the brain’s natural healing processes to reduce emotional intensity and support more adaptive responses in the present.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a structured, skills-based psychotherapy that helps individuals identify and change unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors. CBT offers practical tools for managing anxiety, depression, stress, and everyday challenges, supporting improved emotional regulation, coping skills, and problem-solving.

Brainspotting
Brainspotting is a trauma-informed therapeutic approach that helps access and process deeply held emotional and physiological experiences through focused eye positions. It can be especially helpful when distress is stored beyond words. Brainspotting is often used to support healing from trauma, anxiety, emotional overwhelm, and chronic stress.

Somatic & Polyvagal-Informed Therapy
Somatic and polyvagal-informed therapy are body-centered approaches that address how trauma and stress are held in the nervous system. This work focuses on increasing safety, nervous system regulation, and awareness of bodily cues, supporting emotional stability, resilience, and a greater sense of internal safety.

Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT)
Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT) is an attachment-based, evidence-informed approach that helps individuals understand emotional patterns shaped by early relationships and life experiences. EFIT supports the development of secure attachment, emotional regulation, and healthier ways of relating to oneself and others, and is particularly helpful for trauma, attachment wounds, and relationship-related distress.

Cross-Cultural & Identity-Informed Therapy
Cross-cultural and identity-informed therapy is a culturally responsive approach that considers the impact of culture, immigration, identity, and systemic factors on mental health. This work is especially supportive for immigrants, international students, bicultural individuals, and cross-cultural families, and integrates cultural context into the therapeutic process.
FAQs
Do you offer trauma-focused therapy such as EMDR or Brainspotting?
Yes. I provide trauma-focused psychotherapy using evidence-based approaches including EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Brainspotting, somatic therapy, and attachment-informed methods. Trauma work is always approached with care, emphasizing safety, stabilization, and your individual readiness, and is paced collaboratively to feel supportive and manageable.
How do I know if trauma-focused therapy is right for me?
Trauma-focused therapy may be helpful if past experiences continue to affect your emotions, relationships, sense of safety, or daily functioning. Readiness for trauma work varies from person to person. We will assess this together during your initial sessions and decide collaboratively which approaches are most appropriate for your needs and goals.
What should I expect in the first individual therapy session?
The first session focuses on understanding what brings you to therapy, your background, and what you hope to work on. We will discuss your concerns, explore your goals, and begin developing a treatment plan together at a pace that feels emotionally safe and respectful.
Do you offer therapy in Mandarin Chinese?
Yes. Individual and trauma therapy services are available in both English and Mandarin Chinese. Clients are welcome to use whichever language feels most natural and supportive during therapy sessions.
Who can benefit from individual therapy?
Individual therapy can support adults, adolescents, and children ages 7 and older who are experiencing trauma-related symptoms, anxiety, depression, stress, emotional overwhelm, identity concerns, or major life transitions. Therapy is tailored to each person’s unique experiences and needs.

Telehealth is also available to clients in Florida under registered Out-of-State Telehealth Provider status.
